Ranelagh Arts and Angelica Network invite you to join us for refreshments and a preview of LOCKJAW on Friday, 6th October 2023 from 6 pm.
As part of our mission at Ranelagh Arts to be provide an inclusive platform and incubation environment for all forms of the arts, LOCKJAW is the chosen project from our Curatorial Award and collaboration with Angelica Network. Angelica Network aims to amplify the voices of artists based on the island of Ireland who self-identify as women or minority gender, and are also from underrepresented cultural or ethnic backgrounds. Curated by Shaista Sosrowardoyo, LOCKJAW explores the emotional dimensions of performing identities in a reality where truth is ever-mutating.
These shared experiences guide and unify the practices of Lauren Conway, Luke van Gelderen, and Lana May Fleming who work across a range of diverse disciplines including video, new media, sculpture, drawing and painting. LOCKJAW proffers a heightened and affecting effigy of ourselves: hyper-feminine edible chimaeras; surreal and simulated masculinities; and rearticulated commonalities and cultural totems.
This exhibition is kindly supported by The Arts Council of Ireland, Ranelagh Arts, and Angelica Network.
